Luke 2:15-21 says, "When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, 'Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.' And they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger. And when they saw it, they made known the saying that had been told them concerning this child. And all who heard it wondered at them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them. And at the end of eight days, when he was circumcised, he was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb."
What really stands out to me from these Bible verses is the fact that once the angels left, the shepherds got really excited about the baby who had been born, and began to rejoice. Last Friday, I wrote at the beginning of the blog post that the angel's were rejoicing, and now we read about the shepherds rejoicing. I don't think I need to give anymore hints! Obviously, the day Jesus was born was a time to worship and thank God for giving a baby to the world. Even though no one knew Jesus' whole purpose for being born, they still rejoiced and got excited.
Most everyone already knows the reason we celebrate Christmas, and who Jesus is, but some might not take the real reason to heart. I really do think we are always more worried about presents and other holiday things more than we are worried about the important event that we celebrate on Christmas day. I know, I know! You read a lot about the reason for the season once Christmas-time comes around, but I have to remind you as much as I can the reason for the season. You need to be constantly reminded, and you should constantly remind others.

After reading the picture above, let's just take a moment to think about the year twenty-twenty.
Twenty-twenty to some people might have been the worst year ever, but didn't we say twenty-nineteen was the worst year ever already?
Anyways, what I'm trying to point out is, even though this year might have been the worst, (and the most unique) doesn't mean we can slowly walk through every school or work day and mope around waiting for the new year. No! Let's finish this year off strong, and celebrate Christmas like we have never celebrated it before! I'll continue this conversation/blog post next Friday. Have a great Friday, and don't forget to rejoice! ~Ella
