Hey there and welcome back to my blog! I saw Jack Edwards make this video, and then AveryAvidReader, and it looks really fun, so here we are.
I had never heard of doing this until recently, so I have no idea why it's called a freakout tag...but, I'm going to answer some questions about some books I've read this year. So, here we go!
1. Best book you've read so far in 2022
I think this is an extremely hard question to answer, as I've read sooo many good books it's not even funny, but if I had to choose...I think I would go with: The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes.
This book is just so amazing. Yes, it has a sequel that is equally amazing, but for this question I could only share one book, so it's The Inheritance Games which is the first book in its trilogy.
2. Best sequel you've read so far in 2022
Good Girl, Bad Blood by Holly Jackson. This is the second book in the A Good Girls Guide to Murder trilogy. I started off the year reading this trilogy, and it's one of my favorite trilogies I've ever read. It's a thriller series, and it's amazing.
The whole trilogy is amazing, but I found myself loving the second book, Good Girl, Bad Blood, the most.
3. New release you haven't read yet, but want to
Two Truths and a Lie by April Henry.
I love April Henry's thrillers, and when I found this in Barnes and Noble I wanted to get it, but it was twenty dollars so I decided to wait. I had no idea she had a new release, but this just came out super recently so it's on my tbr. I will end up reading it!
4. Most anticipated release for the second half of the year
Okay, so there are actually several books coming out at the end of this year that I'm super duper excited for. I'm going to share what they are, and then share the one that I'm the most excited for.
-Emma Mae Jenkins new devotion comes out June 28th
-The Final Gambit (the last book of The Inheritance Games trilogy) comes out August 30th
-Nothing More To Tell by Karen M. McManus comes out August 30th too I think
-the Agatha Christie Miss Marple anthology book with short stories from several different authors comes out September first
-Gleanings (part of Arc of a Scythe series) by Neal Shusterman comes out November 8th
-Stellarlune (book nine of the Keeper of the Lost Cities series) comes out November 8th as well
Out of all of those, I'm most excited for The Final Gambit!
5. Biggest disappointment
This is a sad question because I hate to hate on books. But, there's definitely one I was disappointed in. Maybe several. I was the most disappointed in Game Changer by Neal Shusterman.
I explained everything in this blog post: https://miribrooks1.wixsite.com/quoted/post/i-love-reading-so-here-s-what-i-read-in-january
Neal Shusterman is my favorite author, and I go into reading all of his books knowing I'm just gonna love them. But, I didn't really like Game Changer at all. It's definitely my least favorite book I've ever read from him. Which is okay, but yeah. The whole time I was reading it, I was just bored. It wasn't that interesting to me.
Ooh and A Thousand Boy Kisses by Tillie Cole was kinda a disappointment...and The Twin by Natasha Preston.
6. Biggest surprise
The Twin by Natasha Preston. This isn't a good surprise. I was loving the book until the very end. Which was basically a cliffhanger.
The ending was just awful. I felt like the story went in the complete wrong direction, and I was overall really surprised when it ended. I was not expecting to be that disappointed in the ending. So, I was basically disappointed and surprised.
7. Favorite new author (debut or new to you)
Holly Jackson, Jennifer Lynn Barnes, and Shannon Messenger.
I haven't read anymore of their books yet, but I do intend on doing that one day.
8. Newest fictional crush
I don't really ever called book characters 'my crush.' But, I will say that I'm pretty much in love with Keefe Sencen from Keeper of the Lost Cities.
If you know, you know.
9. Newest favorite character
Michael Jensen from All These Bodies by Kendare Blake.
He is just such a sweet character, and I love how the book was in his pov.
10. Book that made you cry
Probably Girls with Sharp Sticks by Suzanne Young.
11. Book that made you happy
The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han for sure.
12. Most beautiful book you've bought so far this year
Wilder Girls by Rory Power. The cover of that book is beautiful.
13. Books you need to read by the end of the year
The list goes on, but here are a few: Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren, Beach Read by Emily Henry, the whole A Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J. Maas, Lock the Doors by Vincent Ralph, The Naturals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes...those are just the books on my summer tbr. There are definitely way more I'll be reading.
And, that is it for my mid-year book freakout tag! Ummm....check out other books I've read here: https://miribrooks1.wixsite.com/quoted/my-blog/categories/everybookireadthismonth
Thanks for reading! ~Ella
