My Advice part one

I wanted to do something different, and I thought I would give you advice, but on several different subjects. So, I hope my advice helps you make your decisions.

1. Dealing with a bully

If you see someone getting bullied, there are usually different choices you can make regarding how to handle the situation. For example, you see an older kid picking on a younger kid, and you have the choice to step in and stand up for the kid getting bullied, or you can let a teacher know what is happening. A lot of the time bullying happens on line which is known as cyber-bullying. If you or someone you know is being bullied online than you should be able to block them, or find some way to make this bullying come to a halt.

It's hard to write a lot about bullying because there are so many different ways someone could be bullied, and different places it could happen. The best thing to do is either get an adult, film the kid getting bullied and show it to an adult, or stop the bullying yourself. It's not okay to stand there and watch someone getting bullied when you know how to help.

2. I sit with a group of girls that are my friends at lunch time, and lately they have been saying some mean things about a girl that doesn't sit with us. I tell them to stop, but they don't ever listen. I don't want to tell an adult because that might be tattling. What do you think I should do?

A lot of the times people don't listen when we ask them to stop being rude about someone behind their back. For this situation, I would continue to tell my friends that what they are saying about this girl is not nice, and they should really stop talking about people behind their back. If they still don't quit after you have continually told them to stop, then I would find somewhere else to sit, or sit by the girl that they were saying mean things about.

Sometimes people don't realize that words really do hurt, and even if this girl doesn't know people are speaking about her behind her back, it's still not nice at all.

3. One time I had the choice to go to my friend's house, or my dad's house, and I didn't know what to do because I really wanted to go to my friend's house, but I rarely see my dad.

This situation has most likely happened to me before, and it is a tough decision. When your parents are divorced, and you don't get to see one parent very much, it will definitely make it harder to choose between friend's house or dad's/mom's house. Personally, I would probably end up asking my friend if we could get together another time because I don't get to see my dad often either, and I really enjoy spending the time I have with him. It would be really hard to let my friend know I can't come over, at least for me because sometimes I don't like to tell people "no," but I'm sure your friends will understand when you explain why you can't come. You will have several more opportunities to hang out with friends, and it's important to spend time with your mom or dad whom you don't get to see often.

4. What do I say if someone asks me about my faith as a Christian?

Be honest! Whether the person who is asking the question is a Christians themselves, or they don't know who God is, be honest. We should be proud to be follower's of God, and we shouldn't be ashamed of Him! If someone asks you about your faith as a Christian, tell them the truth! Let them know who you love, and share God's Word! Never lie about your faith in God! Don't be ashamed! You should never be ashamed to share the Word of God.

5. How do I respond when someone tells me they are having thoughts of suicide?

Tell them they should get rid of those thoughts. Tell them how important they are, and how much God loves them! Let them know that they have a purpose, and thoughts of suicide are coming from the devil. The devil is trying to bring them down and make them think killing themselves will make them feel better. If someone tells you they are having thoughts of suicide, respond with love, and let them know how much you need them in your life! Encourage them to let those thoughts go, and trust in God!

That's all the advice I have for you today! I will probably be writing more advice, and making this a series. We'll see! I hope you enjoyed reading, and hopefully my advice will help you if you're ever in one of the above situations.
