Dear Gigi,
I know things have seemed hard lately, and they might still be hard. I'm here to remind you that Pops is in a better place, where no pain is, and where he can rejoice and worship God! I only knew him for a short time, and I would have liked to get to know him better, but God always has a plan, and God knew it was time for Pops to come live with Him. I know Pops had been having a hard time going in and out of hospitals, and back to nursing homes. He only got to spend two hours at home before he had to go back to the nursing home. But now it feels good to know he isn't suffering anymore. We don't have to worry about him, and it's almost a relief to know he is feeling amazing! Of course, we will always miss him, but Gigi please remember he is here in our hearts. He will probably be watching you as you go about your day, telling you how much he loves you! Reminding you of all the good times you had together! It's the memories we have with someone who has died that we can keep with us for the rest of our lives. I'm grateful for that! I'm grateful for the memories I have with Pops even if they weren't many, and even if they were simply going to the window of the nursing home to say hello. It makes me so happy that he liked our letters, and I'm glad Everett and I were able to make him happy before he left us. One day we will get to see him again, and I can't wait for that day! I feel like God planned for Everett and I to give him those cards several days before he passed on. Our Mom had reminded us several times before that to write him cards, and we continued to forget. I'm glad we continued to forget because otherwise he wouldn't have gotten our cards close to the day he died. I hope he remembers our words of encouragement and strength always! I know he will always remember how much you loved him, and how much you still love him! Think of all the fun Pops is having right now with God! Don't ever forget that Pops is with you in your heart, and he loves you very much! I love you, and I'll be praying for you that you will have strength to get through everyday even if it isn't with Pops. You can do this.
For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. -2 Corinthians 4:17-18
