Welcome back to The Quoted Blog! In today's post, I'm going to be answering assumptions about Christians. I will be linking every place I found these questions from. Also, I did a part two of this on my podcast, so if you want to check that out: https://anchor.fm/ella-catherine.
And without further ado, let's just answer some assumptions...
These next couple assumptions came from this website: https://www.theodysseyonline.com/five-stereotypes-made-about-christians
Christians don't have fun.
I think this assumption is very untrue because I think everyone can have fun. It's not like you are going to find me at a huge party or anything, but in general Christians do have fun, but just making good decisions while having fun.
2. We all have the Bible memorized cover to cover, and are armed with a Bible verse for every situation.
This is false. There might be some people out there that study the Bible a lot and know a lot of verses, but I don't think that every single Christian knows a LOT of verses and is ready with them for every situation. And, I know everyone doesn't have the Bible memorized from cover to cover at all. There is just so much good information in the Bible, and there is too much for anyone but God to be able to memorize in my opinion.
3. We can only be friends with other Christians.
This assumption is also not true. I think we can be friends with who we want to be friends with, but generally Christians might prefer being friends with people who have good morals and make good choices. I'm not saying only Christians make good choices. I think Christians tend to go towards being friends with Christians more often than not, but it's good to have a friend that might not believe in God so maybe you have the chance to bring them to a relationship with Him.
4. Christians are perfect. They have their lives all perfectly together.
Definitely not. Everyone makes mistakes, and no one is perfect. Just because you are a Christians does not mean you are perfect. It doesn't mean you are going to follow God perfectly, and never curse or do anything bad. Everyone is sinful, and Christians don't always have their lives together.
5. I'm going to judge you because you think something different than me.
This is my opinion on this question...No, I'm not going to judge you just because you think something different than me. Every person on this Earth is a child of God, and no one should be judged for thinking differently. Do I support things like murder and stealing? No, but I'm going to try to not judge you if you do those things. (I feel like murder and stealing is a bad example to go by lol..) Everyone is different, and I don't know about everyone not judging others beliefs. I think that Christians should not judge, and I also think no one should judge regardless of their religion. Don't judge period. So, I'm going to say that I disagree with this assumption because literally every person on this Earth judges, so maybe Christians judge sometimes and maybe they don't. I hope that made some sense lol.
The next assumption came from this website: https://www.patheos.com/blogs/chorusinthechaos/10-bad-assumptions-about-christians/
6. Swearing around Christians is forbidden.
Well...swearing around Christians is not forbidden, but I personally don't like hearing swear words. If someone says a bad word around me I'm probably not going to say anything about it, but I personally would prefer not hearing it. I disagree with this assumption though because people are free to say swear words if they want to I guess, but I'm not going to like it even if they do.
So that was today's blog post. Please don't forget to check out part two on my podcast:
