your faith can lead Jesus to do miracles

Hey there & welcome back to Ella Writes! Happy Tuesday! This week I have an interesting blog for you that actually came from a guest speaker that was at church on Sunday.

But, this is your reminder that I'm posting a new blog every Tuesday, & you can catch up on the last three blogs by clicking this link: https://miribrooks1.wixsite.com/ellawrites/blog/categories/a-summer-of-blog-posts

In church this past Sunday, a speaker went up to talk about a ministry that she's a part of that helps homeless people, or people who just need help in general.

She mentioned the story of a sick man who is lowered through the roof of a building to be healed by Jesus. (Luke 5:17-26)

I never realized how much this story relates to giving and being disciples of Christ until she started talking about it in relation to the ministry she is a part of. It's so amazing what God can teach us through random people we've never met, and I love to learn more about the Bible and Jesus through everyday experiences. You truly never know what someone might teach you or remind you that you needed or were inspired by.

She summarized the passage in Luke and talked about how the friends of the man who was paralyzed knew Jesus would be speaking at this specific place, and when they got there the building was so full that the friends had no other choice but to cut a hole in the roof and lower their friend through the ceiling.

These friends knew for a fact that Jesus was the only way their friend was getting healed that day, and they were not going to walk away just because the place was crowded. That part of the story in and of itself is so inspiring because it reminds us that giving up gets us right back where we were at the beginning. It's when we choose not to give up that we see the fruit of our actions. That can be applied to so many areas of our lives today, whether it's getting the job you've always wanted, or simply not giving up on living.

However, the woman at church pointed out what Luke 5:20 says, "When Jesus saw their faith, he said, 'Friend, your sins are forgiven.'"

She mentioned that in other instances of the Bible, when Jesus heals someone, he always says that it's because of that person's faith that they are healed, but in this story he says it's because of the friends' faith.

I thought that was so interesting because yes, God has the power to do miracles at any moment, but when your faith leads Him to do miracles, it's a whole other story. When God does something because we decide to have faith and follow Him, it shows just how powerful deciding to trust Him is.

God is so good all the time, but there's something so special about your faithfulness bearing fruit to God's cause. The aftermath of seeing what God has called you to is better than the mission you thought about saying no to.

Sometimes we do have to take that leap.

It's easy to help a friend out like the friends in Luke chapter 5, but the faith we have in God during even more difficult situations, whether it's trusting Him through loss, or holding on to Him during heartbreak, is so worth it when we see the reason God called us to have faith in the first place.

This blog post idea didn't even come from the actual sermon at church. It came from the woman with a need to seek after her calling and help others who spoke before the service. The sermon itself was also really good, but I wanted to point out that God can speak through any situation. Through absolutely anything.

Having faith in Him is the best decision you could ever make. I don't want you to read the title of this blog the wrong way, though. Although your faith can lead Jesus to do miracles like the healing of the paralyzed man, it does not mean that every bit of faith you have will produce a miracle.

I'm not claiming to know God inside and out by making this post. I am, however, claiming that faith in Jesus is worth the end result. It doesn't have to be a miracle to be a blessing. Everything we have been given is a gift, whether our best friend is healed from being paralyzed or not.

So, choose faithfulness, and remember what God can do with your faith. But don't underestimate His plans and expect Him to "heal" all of your endeavors. Only God knows what happens next, and only He knows how things should go when you choose to place your trust in Him.

I hope this blog post encouraged you and reminded you today that faith in Jesus is enough, but God is capable of doing so much more with your faith than you could ever imagine.

(And don't forget that God & Jesus are the same! I'm not trying to confuse you by using both of their names!)

Thank you for reading this week's blog post! Come back next Tuesday for another one!

Also, buy a bag of coffee from Rise Up & Roast to support the lovely ministry that the woman who spoke at church is a part of!

Until next week! ~Ella
