It's not that you're too busy for God, you just haven't made time for Him

Hi there and welcome back to "A Summer of Blogs!" New blog posts are coming your way every Tuesday of June and July.
Matthew 6:33 says, "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."
It's super easy to just say you're a Christian and go on with your life. Maybe you read your Bible randomly throughout the week, maybe you go to church every other Sunday, or you say a prayer to God as your falling asleep, and that's it.
But is that really spending time with God? Does any of that really glorify Him when you're only doing it halfway?
Listen, I know what you're thinking. "That's unfair! My life is busy and I don't always have time to spend the whole day praying and reading my Bible!"
But, God calls us to seek first His kingdom and seek first His righteousness. How can we have a relationship with Him if we're only doing things halfway?
I'm one of those people who would really like to meet my husband right now and spend all day every day hanging out with the love of my life, but there is not one guy in sight right now that is going to be my future husband. So, I'm patiently waiting for the day that my dream comes true.
Even though I don't have that kind of love right now, you know what I do have?
I have the neverending love of Jesus Christ.
Yet, as I'm patiently waiting for the right person to come along, I'm also losing sight of the one person that already wants my love and attention right now.
What if, instead of seeking what we don't have, we sought after what we do have?
I know how many times a week you've probably randomly been doing something and then remembered that you haven't read your Bible yet. It's that easy to forget God. It's that easy to seek anything else over spending time with Him.
It's always on the days that I'm doing something other than spend time with Him that I remember I still need to spend time with Him. And then I just feel bad.
I feel bad because God is the one person in this entire world that actually wants to spend time with us no matter what. And He is also the one person that understands when we don't spend time with Him.
Just like it can be easy to tell your best friend, "I'm too busy," it's easy to tell God, "I'm too busy."
But, honestly, if we wanted to spend time with someone, we would make time for them. So, is it possible that when you try to tell God that you're "too busy for Him," you're really just saying that because you haven't made time for Him?
I believe that none of us are too busy for anything unless we actually don't have the time for it. So, whatever you're putting off doing right now is being put off because you aren't making time for it.
What would it look like if the first priority we had every day was spending time with the Lord? It's as easy as sitting outside with a cup of coffee, reading a devotion, and looking at the sunrise. It's that easy to hang out with Him. We don't have to text a date and time and wait for a response. We don't have to do anything but step outside, or even open our eyes and start talking to Him.
Ashley Hetherington, a fellow social media influencer and YouTuber, has been the biggest motivation for me to make sure I keep time for God in my life. It's so easy for me to just forget that I haven't done anything with Him each day, but the reminder to start your day with God instead of with the world is something I need. If you need that reminder too, you should check out Ashley's YouTube channel and watch some of her vlogs. They're called "The Holy Girl Diaries," and she films what her day with Jesus looks like each day. Every day is different, but God is a part of everything she does.

It's easy to forget about God when you're not making time for Him. So today, please make time for Him. Trust me when I say that it is the only thing you truly need to survive this Earth.
If all I had was God, that's all I would need.
That sounds scary to admit, but I truly believe that the only thing you need to get through each day is your Heavenly Father who loves you, cares for you, and is always with you at every waking moment.
If this blog encouraged you today, it would mean the world if you'd share it with someone else! Come back next Tuesday for more encouragement. You can also tune into The Quoted Podcast this week to hear the last episode of season 17! ~Ella
