everything I read in November (:

Hey there! Welcome back to Ella Writes!! I had a slow reading month in November, but I'm excited to share with you everything I read! Let's get into it...

1. Fourth Wing: by Rebecca Yarros- finished November 4th

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I started off the month with one of the most hyped up books of 2023. I don't even know how much I've heard about Fourth Wing, but the amount of people who loved it made me want to read it.

Being completely honest, I didn't think I was going to like this book.

But I actually loved it.

It's one of my favorite books I've ever read, and I felt so connected to all the characters.

I HIGHLY recommend this book.

100%

2. The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes: by Suzanne Collins- finished November 11th

⭐⭐⭐⭐

When I read The Hunger Games trilogy, I had no idea there was even a prequel. So when I saw the trailer for the movie coming out, I decided I wanted to go ahead and read the book before I watched the movie.

It was all because of Olivia Rodrigo.

If Olivia had not come out with her song for the movie, I would not be so excited to watch it.

But also, TOM BLYTH.

Anyway...I read the book.

It was not easy to get through after about 200 pages.

I got kinda bored with it and ended up listening to the audiobook on the highest speed just because I wanted it to be over.

I also have such conflicting emotions about this book and its ending.

I want to love Snow, but I know I shouldn't. And then I think about how it ended, and...

I don't know how I feel about this book, but I am glad I read it. If you're planning on reading The Hunger Games, definitely read this book first because it really shows so much of Snow's background, and you get to learn more about who he was before Katniss came along.

It's quite interesting.

3. My Roommate Is a Vampire: by Jenna Levine- finished November 14th

⭐⭐⭐

If you had no idea, my favorite shows of all time are The Vampire Diaries and Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

Needless to say, I love any book that has to do with vampire. And I love them mostly because with vampire books comes references to my favorite shows.

But, the only thing about this book is that it's a romance, and I'm very picky with romances. I've been in love with the same person since middle school, and I don't relate to like any of the romance books that I read. 😅

And on top of that, I hate spice. It makes me so digusted.

When you think of romance, it's impossible to not expect some spice or inappropriate speech.

Something about the world today thinks romance and spice go hand in hand with every single romance books. And the worst part is no one is ever married.

That's why I usually stick with Twilight lol.

So, overall, I really enjoyed the beginning of this book. Then we hit the minimal amount of spice and I tapped out. (also known as- I skipped all the spicy pages and turned the audiobook on so I could get through the rest of the book.)

My favorite part about this book were the Buffy references.

And I would recommend this book as a quick easy read.

4. The Vanishing Stair (#2): by Maureen Johnson- finished November 17th

⭐⭐⭐

Then I used the lovely new audiobooks with premium feature on Spotify to get through the second book of the Truly Devious trilogy during my art class.

I read the first book at the very end of 2022, and I wasn't obsessed with it, but I'd already gotten the next two books, so I felt like I needed to read the others.

This was a pretty decent read, and I would recommend this trilogy, but I'm not in love with it.

5. Burn Our Bodies Down: by Rory Power- finished November 17th

⭐⭐⭐

Next I picked up another book by Rory Power. At some point between this year and last year, I saw Wilder Girls in the bookstore and I fell in love with the cover. To this day that book has one of my favorite covers I've ever seen, and I just love the cover of Burn Our Bodies Down as well.

There's just something about these two books that I love, especially their titles.

Anyway, I thought this was a very interesting read, and I'm glad I had the chance to read it. Again, it wasn't the most memorable, but I did enjoy it.

6. Meet Me At The Lake: by Carley Fortune- finished November 20th

⭐⭐

I really enjoyed Carley Fortune's first book, Every Summer After, but, unfortunately, I can not say the same about Meet Me At The Lake.

Obviously we all now know that I'm very picky with romances because I literally outed myself a few moments ago...

So, you can probably imagine why I didn't like this book.

One, spice. Two, didn't connect with the characters. Three, I didn't really even care.

But the writing was great!

7. Called By Name: by Ella Catherine- finished idk when

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Then I finished reading over my own book for something special....you'll get all the details on December 14th, so stay tuned. I'm so excited.

Anyway, I had to edit and annotate it to get it ready for its release date.

I'm in love with this book. But I'm also really excited to write more books because I know my writing is going to get better the more I write. And I also want to work on my formatting to make it look more professional.

Self publishing is so cool, but it's never the same as letting a professional do it honestly.

Do I recommend my own book? Obviously. But it's not out yet, so you'll just have to be patient and wait.

That's everything I read in November! My favorite books last month were definitely Fourth Wing and Called By Name.

Go check out these books, and please stay tuned. Exciting things are coming your way very soon!! ~Ella
