You Are Worthy

I just finished reading Worthy by Donna Cooner, and I want to write about my thoughts on the book. Worthy is about...

"Download the app. Be the judge.

Everyone at Linden's high school is obsessed with Worthy. It's this new app that posts pictures of couples, and asks: Is the girl worthy of the guy?

Suddenly, relationships implode as the votes climb and the comments get real ugly real fast.

At first, Linden is focused on other things. Like cute Alex Rivera. Prom committee. Her writing. But soon she's intrigued by Worthy. Who's posting the pictures? Who's voting? And what will happen when the spotlight turns...on Linden?"

At the beginning of the book, Linden is confident in herself, and so is her best friend, Nikki. We are all confident in ourselves at some point, right? But we are not always confident, and the app called WORTHY proves that.

When Linden downloads the app and begins to join in voting on other couple's pictures, she begins to wonder if she's worthy. I don't want to spoil too much, but overall, we read about what happens when *SPOILER ALERT* the spotlight focuses on Linden.

Linden has to learn how to be her true self without letting everyone else's judgement affect her. A lot of the time, we feel like we need to do the same thing. With social media being as popular as it is today, judgement is being spread all around. It could be a simple negative comment on a photo, or it could be a whole wall of negative comments.

At the end of the day, it hurts to hear others negative judgement. No matter how much we try to block it out, it stills comes in like waves.

It hurts.

We want to ignore it, but it hurts.

It's hard to ignore the hate comments that we see. Or the ones we hear.

The important question is: Are you going to let those comments hurt you? Are you going to let them get you down, or make you think you're not good enough? Are you going to let what others say about you matter?

NO. No. No.

You're not. You're not going to let what everyone says about you change you.

Okay. Maybe you don't get a lot of hate, or you don't hear a lot of mean things being said about you, but it's all the same. You are worthy of you. God created you just the way you need to be. Sometimes, you might bring hate towards yourself. Even that gives me a reason to remind you: Don't bring yourself down. Don't judge yourself.

'And Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." And they cast lots to divide his garments.' -Luke 23:34

And that's where I'm going to end this post today. Thank you for reading! As always, you are loved, and you have a purpose! You are so incredible! ~Ella
