Journal Entry #512:
(I never share journal entries of mine, but this one hit different than all of my other ones, so I thought I would share!)
The moments of my day where I feel the closest with God and the most at peace is when I'm outside. And I don't feel completely at peace unless I'm the only one outside and I don't have my phone with me, but have a journal, pen, and a book.
It is absolutely so beautiful outside right now, and I enjoy moments like that. The sky looks like a masterpiece painting. The breeze feels so good. The birds chirping makes me feel so calm. And the hummingbirds go so fast that I'm glad I can watch them drink the honeysuckle.
There are so many of Earth's beauties that we miss daily because we are staring at our phones, or being distracted by other things.
The fact that a mosquito just landed on me...which usually makes me go inside, makes me think the devil is trying to discourage me. He is trying to make me go inside and forget about the beauty of the world.
You know what? I'm not going inside until this entry is finished. This mosquito is literally attacking me! (lol)
It makes me feel like I've lost because I came inside. I just can't stand being bitten so many times by mosquitoes. I don't know what is it, but mosquitoes literally love my blood. (haha) I'm very glad Damon isn't really otherwise that would be a big problem. (Who gets the reference I just made?)
Anyway, you didn't win Satan, and you never will.
Okay everyone, that was my journal entry. I know the part about the mosquitoes was kind of funny, but I was telling the truth. Mosquitoes really are obsessed with my blood.
Anyway, what I wanted you to get out of this entry was that you don't need to give up. Don't let the devil win.
I know I wasn't really in a fight with the devil (unless I really was...idk), but the situation I was in at that time made it feel like I was fighting mosquitoes against the fact that I wanted to stay outside to see the beautiful sky.
This scenario, or situation, can be an example for real life. When you're facing a hard situation, remember that you aren't alone. You will always have God, and you can get through anything with God on your side. Don't let the devil win, ever. Philippians 4:13 says, "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength."
With Christ, I was able to hold off until I finished my journal entry before I went inside because I wanted to see His creation, but didn't want to get eaten by mosquitoes. (It sounds like a funny situation, but this is serious.)
We are always going to be fighting some sort of battle in our lives. God never promised that our lives would be perfect. Yeah, there will be times where you will doubt yourself, and compare yourself to others. There will be times when you get your feelings hurt, and you want to forget about everything and do nothing. Our lives won't be perfect, but God promised He would always be there for us. And, He doesn't lie.
I was watching Mia Dinoto's "waking up at 5 a.m. week to spend time with the Lord" video, and in one part of the video, there was a timelapse of the sunrise, and a Bible verse was on the screen. This Bible verse was such a good one, and I wanted to share it with you right now.
-"When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place." -Psalm 8:3
Please go watch that video! Link here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PcHIWljNtkU
And the time stamp where that verse was in the video is 10:24.
Another thing you should take away from this blog post, the sky is really beautiful, and you should find some time out of your day to leave your phone INSIDE, and go outside to read or journal, or just simply dwell on the magnificence of His creation. Trust me, you won't regret it. If it's rainy outside, you can still sit under the patio, but I don't suggest going out when it is storming obviously.
Yeah, that was today's blog. I really hope it meant something to you, and that you will try going outside and spending some time in God's creation. It's good for you to just relax, and look up at those beautiful clouds. I have never regretted spending an hour of my free time after school sitting outside.
So, I hope you have a great rest of your day, and if you wanna, go check out my new podcast...https://anchor.fm/ella-catherine
I'm ending off season two on this week's podcast episode!
Okay, that's all! Thanks for reading, love you! (by the way, when you are reading this, I finished my last day of my freshmen year of high school..woah...) (; ~Ella
