Hi! My name is Ella Sims, I am a friend of Ella’s. So, today we are going to be talking about Christmas!
Christmas, the glorious time of the year that people all over the world celebrate. The time of the year where people get gifts, toys, candy, and spend time with family. The time for Santa and Christmas trees. We usually think of all of these things when the word 'Christmas' comes up. But, "what is Christmas truly about?" is the question I ask you. "Huh," you might think to yourself. I know! Isn’t it a surprise that Christmas isn’t truly about receiving things that you’ve wanted for such a long time? Shocking, I know.
What is the one thing in the world that is everlasting and that you and I should know will never fade? All of the gifts you receive will be gone one day. They may decay, burn, I could go on and on. The one thing that will never fade, and will always be there is Jesus. Jesus is exactly what Christmas should be about. Surprising, right? You might be obsessing every day over what your parents will give you on Christmas day. On Christmas day, you might be secretly engulfed in your anger because you didn’t get one gift that you desired to get. In case you're wondering, that shouldn’t be what Christmas is about! Christmas should be about celebrating Jesus’ birth! He’s the Messiah, the son of God, he saved us from our horrible sins! We need to celebrate this! During Christmas, I would highly recommend to you to refrain from complaining and being mad that you didn’t get that one gift that you wanted out of the very probable several others that you received. Think about the people in the world that have it a lot worse off than you. In several places in India there are so many people living in awful conditions because of the poverty rate there. You could be in the hospital battling Covid and praying hard that you will be able to breathe and live to see the next day. There are so many horrible situations that are going on in the world and we are so caught up in our own “horrible” lives that we forget about what our living for should truly be about! As Christians, we should try to strive to be like the Lord, and spread His Word with every breath that is in our lungs! This Christmas you should try to appreciate what you have in your privileged life and try to help out the people that don’t have the opportunities that we do!
I’m not implying that you need to go across the world and try to help out the people there, although that could be beneficial to the people who live there. Volunteer a little of your time to a local food pantry and hand out food in your community. You could spend some of your money and get gifts for the kids in your class and assume as you give the gift to them that you could be helping them out and letting them know they are loved by someone. Do something (for the Lord) this Christmas instead of focusing so much on all the things that you want. Help someone out this Christmas! That is my challenge to you!
-Sincerely, Ella Sims
Yes! What Ella wrote is so true! The reason we celebrate Christmas is to give glory to God and celebrate His son Jesus' birth. This Christmas, do exactly as Ella has written! Help someone out this Christmas, and spread the glory of the Lord! Amen! ~Ella
