temptation

I was writing a journal entry in my journal for ELA and I was so proud of what I wrote. So, I decided to share! The journal prompt was: Write about temptations. What are some ways you are tempted? And there was a poem, "The gold moth did not love him / So, gorgeous, she flew away, / But the gray moth circled the flame / Until the break of day. / And then, with wings like a dead desire, / She fell fire-caught, into the flame." I don't really know where I was going with this, and what it really means, but here it is!

There are so many things that tempt humans in everyday life. From getting revenge to being the last one to speak in an argument, we are tempted easily. It's so easy to be tempted because we are sinful. We feel like we have to have the last word. We feel like we have to have our way. If you thought of three major ways you were tempted today, I'm sure the thoughts would come easy. Like the poem talks about the moths, we aren't the only ones who are tempted easily. Animals fall for traps just because of the smell of food. Food that they need to survive ultimately becomes the end of them. In the poem, the gold moth saves herself by deciding she is not in love with the moth. But, the gray moth loved the other moth so much that she died for her love. She was tempted to go into the fire, but her temptation was the end of her. At the end of the day, it's hard not to be tempted. There are so many things in this world to be tempted by. Overall, it's more important to not let those temptations destroy you.

I'm sorry if this is a sad little paragraph because the topic is temptation. I don't mean to discourage you or anything, but I thought it was funny how I was able to write a whole page in my journal about this subject. I don't know. Yeah, so that's my paragraph about temptation! ~Ella
