Wow! Today is New Year's Eve, and I wanted to end off the year on a good note. I started this blog in April of 2020, and I now have around 120 blog posts. I haven't gained very many new members this year. I probably only have about 7, but that's okay.
Now, here are ten things I learned in 2020...
1. Trust in God
He always has a plan, and I can not stress this enough! If we don't trust in God, we let the world define us. God has led us to freedom, and all we need to do is trust in Him, and let Him lead us. Even though bad things happen, God will always be there, and you shall always be reminded that you have a purpose, and that God has a plan for your life!
2. Make your dreams come true
In 2020, I started a blog, and finished writing my first book called Quoted A Guide For Teen Girls. I would say that writing a book has probably been a big dream for me, and I never would have thought I would actually write a book. I'm so excited for you to read Quoted! Sadly, the publishing date has been delayed several weeks as I have waited to be approved as a vendor, but I'm confident that my book will be published at the beginning of 2021 and be ready to buy!
And as for my blog, I'm so proud of it! I've learned that you don't need many followers to be happy. I'm happy with my blog just the way it is right now, and I can't wait for more people to find it and start reading, but for now, the people that do know about it and are reading it are enough. You truely don't need many followers to be happy.
3. Don't be afraid
At the beginning of this year, there were several storms that caused tornado's or hail where I live. I'm sure pretty much everyone is afraid of natural disasters like me. I was so thankful to have my Bible and Live Fearless near me during the storms. I remember writing several journal entries about how afraid I was during those storms. I learned that I don't need to be afraid, though. "When I am afraid, I put my trust in you." -Psalm 56:3 "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and of a sound mind." -2 Timothy 1:7 (Fun fact: I wrote an entry in my book, Quoted, during a storm)
4. Be yourself
Be yourself because everyone else is already taken.
5. Single is good
I can not tell you how long I have had a crush on the same boy. (: Single is good. You don't need a boyfriend to be happy.
6. Spread God's Word no matter what
It could be through cards, a blog post, or a random act of kindness. I remember I wrote a blog post for my step-dad's step-dad in July, and I learned how to make light of a situation as sad as a funeral just by sharing God's Word with the one who lost someone they loved. You can spread God's Word everywhere you go. So go and do just that!
7. Try new things
Whether it's paying for someone's food in the drive-thru, or going to a new church, you can try new things. Try things that please the Lord!
8. Spend time with God
Through prayer, devotions, the Bible app, and His Word, spending time with God is immediately the most important thing in your life.
9. Don't let the world overwhelm you
The world is a bad example, and you can't let it overtake your life. You have to remember who died for you, and who didn't. Jesus died for you, and the world did nothing good for you. There are good things in this world, and there are bad things. It's important that in the midst of everything that happens in your life, you focus on the Lord, and who He has called you to be.
10. Remember every random act of kindness is worth it
On Tuesday, we went to Starbucks and Panda Express during lunch time. My dad paid for the person behind us in the drive-thru at both places, and it made me feel happy. It made me feel happy to have paid for someone's meal even if they didn't know who paid for it. Random acts of kindness don't need to be recognized. Be kind! "Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you." -Princess Diana
That was the last blog post of 2020, and I hope you enjoyed it! Let's embrace the new year, and glorify God through everything we do! ~Ella
